Culture&Life | Residential complex in China's Hunan retains ancient charm

YONGZHOU, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Nestled amid the mountains of Jianghua Yao Autonomous County in Yongzhou, Baojing Village was built by the ancestors of the He family in 1650, and is therefore called the "Courtyard of Family He." There are 180 existing ancient residences, 7 gate towers and 36 alleys.

Baojing Village was included in the fourth batch of traditional Chinese villages catalog in 2016, and the ancient residences of the Courtyard of Family He were listed as one of the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units in 2019.
