RUICHENG, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Dayudu of Ruicheng County is named after Dayu, a legendary Chinese flood control hero who had lived and worked there more than 4,000 years ago.

Overlooking the Yellow River, local residents used to suffer from drought for a long time until the Dayudu water lifting project was set up in the 1970s. Pumping stations at the irrigation area in Dayudu have witnessed constant upgrading, expansion and transformation in recent years to satisfy growing need for water, and Ruicheng itself has also turned a leading grain-producing county in China.
