CALOOCAN CITY, May 12 (PIA) -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) today arrested two individuals allegedly involved in human trafficking in separate entrapment operations conducted in the cities of Paranaque and Pasay.

NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC)- Director Eric B. Distor identified the arrested suspects as spouses Kong, Ma. Angelica y Belga and Kong, Xiangce, a Chinese national.

Distor said the sting operation, conducted by the NBI-Rizal District Office (NBI-RIZDO), also resulted in the rescue of twenty (20) women-victims, of whom, two have been identified by the NBI as minors.

The NBI chief said the operation stemmed from an intelligence report that a group of unidentified individuals are engaged in prostitution and human trafficking activities, particularly sexual exploitation of minor victims.

According to the report, the booking of women for sexual services is being done through messaging in online private group chats reportedly intended solely for Chinese customers.

In addition, the said group reportedly operates in the National Capital Region Plus bubble area for easier transporting of women, as they are reportedly housed in an exclusive village in Paranaque City.

One of the NBI-RIZDO operatives established communication with the subjects by sending a message through a contact given by the informant through mobile messaging app TELEGRAM as to the sexual services being offered.

Suspects reportedly sent a ready list of prices of the sexual services being offered written in Chinese language.

The NBI-RIZDO, then requested the assistance of Destiny Rescue Philippines, a non-government organization (NGO), which rescue children from sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

After confirming that human trafficking activities are being committed by the operators of the private group chat in TELEGRAM, an entrapment operation ensued.

With the help of a Chinese translator, NBI-RIZDO was able to secure a booking. Both the poseur-customer and subject agreed to meet in a motel in Pasay City.

The two teams of NBI-RIZDO operatives were then dispatched. One in the agreed motel in Pasay City wherein the poseur-customer went inside the room and after giving the pre-arranged signal, the rest of the first team immediately stormed in the room and rescued the victim who was being offered to perform sexual services.

While the other team proceeded to an exclusive village in Paranaque City where the other girls are reported to be housed, maintained, and offered for sexual services.

After confirming with one of the victims who was rescued earlier, it was found out that the girls are being advertised for prostitution through a private group chat Telegram app, the second team immediately stormed the accommodation house and arrested the suspects which also led to the rescue of the other 19 female victims, two of whom were later identified as minors.

In the conduct of post-operation processing, two of the rescued victims were found to be positive for COVID-19 after rapid antigen test was conducted on them.

All occupants of the accommodation house including the arrested subjects were recommended to be placed under quarantine pending the result of their RT-PCR tests. (PIA NCR)
