BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

CHANG'E-5 PROBE

China's Chang'e-5 probe performed braking for the second time at 20:23 p.m. Sunday (Beijing Time). After the deceleration, the probe started flying in a near circular orbit from an elliptical path around the moon.

In the next step, the lander-ascender combination of the spacecraft will separate from its orbiter-returner combination.

MANNED SUBMERSIBLE

China's new deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe (Striver), onboard the scientific research ship Tansuo-1, returned to the port in the city of Sanya, south China's Hainan Province on Saturday morning, after completing its ocean expedition.

The submersible set a national record by diving to a depth of 10,909 meters in the Mariana Trench during the expedition.

BEE SPECIES DISTRIBUTION

Researchers have mapped the distribution of bee species to study the size and diversity of their global population.

There are more than 20,000 species of bees which until now lacked accurate global distribution data. The researchers combined a comprehensive checklist of bee species distributions and about six million public records of the insects to depict and map global patterns of diversity.
