DONGYANG, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Dongyang woodcarving, originated in Dongyang City of east China's Zhejiang Province, has a history of more than one thousand years since the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). It is one of the outstanding representatives of Chinese folk carving art.

Based on plane relief, Dongyang woodcarving has formed its own distinct characteristics with rich layers and light lustre. It was listed in the first batch of the national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.
