Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina recorded seven aces and sent Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin packing with a 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-3 first-round victory over the No. 5 seed on Tuesday in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Rybakina had 25 winners against five unforced errors while Kenin had 28 winners and nine miscues. Kenin termed the loss as "really upsetting and disappointing" and said she felt "off" the entire match.

Seventh-seeded Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus moved on with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Greece's Maria Sakkari. Eighth-seeded Petra Martic of Croatia also advanced as she cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 win over Chinese Taipei's Su-Wei Hsieh.
