Davos [Switzerland], Jan 22 (ANI): Chinese tech giant Huawei on Tuesday called for a quick resolution to the case involving its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Sabrina Meng Wanzhou, who was arrested in December last year in Vancouver at the request of the United States.
The statement came from Huawei's chairman Liang Hua, who was appointed as the acting CFO last month after Meng
's arrest, who is in Davos to attend the World Economic Forum meetings.
's statement also assumes significance as Washington is likely to make a formal request to Canada to extradite Meng in order to face the court charges in the US.
"We operate our business globally, and in every country. We fully comply with local laws and regulations," Liang said.
Meng was arrested on December 1 last year on alleged charges of violating the sanctions imposed by the US on Iran. She was later released on bail but is slated to face court charges on February 6.
Last week, founder of Huawei and Meng
's father Ren Zhengfei was quoted as saying to the media that he had faith in the judicial systems of both the US and Canada.
Meanwhile, calling for the US to withdraw the request of Meng
's extradition, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying warned that Beijing would take action if Washington went ahead with its measures.
"China will take action in response to measures taken by the US," Hua said during a press briefing.
"Everyone has to be held responsible for their own actions. Both the US and Canada should be aware of the seriousness of the case and take steps to rectify the mistake," Hua added. (ANI)
