LOCALLY EMPLOYED Asian journalists working in difficult or dangerous situations can apply for the 2018 Agence France-Presse (AFP) Kate Webb Prize. The contest is open to Asian text and visual journalists for work published in 2018, the AFP said.
Applicants should submit the following: (1) A letter to the AFP Webb Prize Jury explaining why the applicant deserves the award (2) A CV with two professional references (3) For reporters and photographers, three samples of work published on different dates in 2018 (4) For video journalists, at least three samples of work broadcast or published online in 2018 via links to YouTube or other hosting sites.
Applications must be sent to email@example.com, on November 15, 2018, no later than midnight in Hong Kong (1600 GMT).
Work in English or an Asian national language is accepted, provided that there is an English translation. Photo captions and video scripts or subtitles, however, must be in English.
The winner will receive 3,000 in cash and a certificate and will be invited to a prize-giving ceremony.
The award is named after Kate Webb, who covered the Vietnam War and other events in Asia during her four-decade career as a journalist.
