Archaeologists identify oldest part of China's Great Wall
China News.Net Wednesday 10th March, 2010 (ANI)
Chinese archaeologists have identified the route of a 137-km stretch of China's oldest Great Wall in central Henan Province, on which the remnants of 30 km of wall is still standing.
"The wall structure was built no later than 221 B.C. in the Warring States period," China.org quoted Sun Yingmin, a spokesman of the provincial Cultural Relics Bureau.
Sun said an archaeological survey since 2008 led to the finding of the Great Wall structure, which runs mainly east to west, spanning 25 counties and districts in the province.
Emperor Qin Shi Huang, who reigned from 247 B.C. to 210 B.C., has long been credited with building the Great Wall. Actually, he linked up the different sections of the wall built by different states during the Warring States Period.
Construction and repairs continued from the Qin to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
Historical records show as early as the Spring and Autumn Period, Chu, one of the seven major powers, had constructed the Great Wall to prevent invasion from the northern states such as Wei.
Sun said the research in Henan proved most parts of the Great Wall of Chu had been built in the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 B.C.), and small parts built in the Warring State Period (475-221 B.C.). (ANI) Email this story to a friend

Archaeologists identify oldest part of China's Great Wall
Nobody can forget such great creators in the world. We should learn the lesson of Nationality from China .
2222 years ago in China, Qin Shi Huang-Ti destroyed the Chou dynasty and proclaimed himself as China’s first emperor. He captured the state power and destroyed and burned all the China’s historical sources, materials, inscriptions and temples. The King Qin Shi Huang-Ti had expanded Chinese territory to Mongolia in the north and annexed many places. He constructed the Great wall (approximately 6,000 kilometers long) for the security purpose. He is immortal not all in China but all around the world too.
This shows that a man can achieve anything if they determine to do it. There is nothing that men cannot do, but cannot suppress truth and good beliefs. Although China’s first emperor Qin Shi Huang destroyed all the historical evidences, the philosophy of religious Guru Confucius 25 hundred years old still exists today in China. Confusions philosophy is Chinese light. Time creates people and people create history. A man is 'nature' while the history is 'manual'. Time creates individuals that can give creative thought and such individuals become immortal in the world.
Similarly, three thousand years ago in Egypt, a tradition of worshipping more than 300 Gods and Goddesses were in practice. People used to spend half their time worshipping Gods and Goddesses. During that time, King E-knoton destroyed statues of all the gods and goddesses and brought out a strict policy making the entire Egyptian resident worship signal god. Then, Egyptians started to worship only the 'Sun'.
When social evils and degradation were increasing in Nepal, Gautam Buddha, the liberator took birth. Buddha achieved enlightenment and his views spread everywhere. As the number of monasteries increased, in the name Buddha monks and Anis (nuns) were engaged in unsocial actives, which results in aborting many innocent infant. The Buddhism faced big crisis. Then, Aadi Shankaracharya, the greatest Hindu priest, came to Nepal and forced monks and Anis to marry and compelled the Buddhists to seek homes. After the renouncement and homely 'Ashram' came into introduction in Buddhism, the pragmatic religion spread worldwide.
Although Nepal is a small nation, it is home to many ethnic castes. If any one of these castes are discriminated or forgotten, Nepal’s nationality will be incomplete. Common Nepal’s cultural nationality is maintained through agreement between various ethnic castes of this nation. Nepali culture is created with the harmony between Hindu, Vedic and Buddha religion. Our culture is supreme in terms of tolerance, morality and culture. We, Nepalese people are rich in culture. We speak more than fifty mother tongues in Nepal. Nepalese language, the national common language of all ethnic groups, in capacity of the major communication language between them has worked to keep all ethnic languages alive. Although Nepal used to be known as the Hindu kingdom, it was more tolerate than secular nations when it came to religious matters. Muslims, Christians and other religions are allowed to follow their rituals freely. Thus, Nepalese nationality will not stay alive by securing Nepalese land. To back it up, royal institution and Hindu & Buddhist nation should be maintained. Nepal is the nation, created through a joint effort of the monarchy and people by fighting against expansionist force.
Nepal is in a dangerous mode. Some traitors and criminals who have remained in power after 2006 are bent on destroying the existence of this holy land with support from expansionism and imperialist. Nepal is a landlocked nation. This nation will not be able to save itself by adopting Secularism, Federalism and becoming a Republic. This is not Nepalese slogan. Some traitors in the leadership level in Nepali Congress, UML and Maoist are trying to destroy our identity acting on foreign incitement. The Nationality is not a subject that will be saved by others. One should learn to defend it. Court, national army, nation’s various organs should be capable to fulfill its duty independently. Those are condemnable who play with Nepalese unity by inciting animosity between ethnic castes and bring conventional norms existing since eras into controversy. To save our nation and nationality, the nation should agree to move ahead in coordination between nationality, royal institution and democracy.
Thank you.
