EU tries to persuade Myanmar to open airbase

The top aid official in the European Union, Louis Michel, has urged the military junta in Myanmar to open up an airbase and provide visas for foreign aid workers.

Mr Michel has said he wants relief workers to be able to move freely throughout the country after the devastating cyclone which hit two weeks ago.

According to estimates by the UN two-and-a half million people are in urgent need of clean water, food, clothing and shelter.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has announced that the UN will hold an emergency summit in Asia, on the crisis in Myanmar.

Meanwhile, Myanmar authorities have announced victory in a national referendum, held on Saturday, on a new constitution.

The generals have claimed a win with 92 percent of the ballots and say the turnout in the vote was 99 percent.

Set a side your political notions and let them help you... They are willing to help because they are human with feelings for those peop[le needs that help.Do not let your people die with out help.They will die one at a time if help is not render right a way.

Myanmar can only marry Myanmar confuses me a bit though. (I myself have been to the delta region and have seen it with my own eyes). 6) Have you ever lived in Myanmar because it doesn’t sound like you know anything about the country. 7) Are you married? 8) Do you have any real friends? 9) Have you ever been outside and mixed with real people, Sitting in Daddy’s Landcruiser doesn’t count? 10) Are you gay? I am tempted to agree with Daw Liz Liz but if I ever have a dog I wouldn’t call it Sittway as that would be an insult to the dog.

The US and the EU, have made numerous statements about 'help' even to forcing their competing to force 'help'! They see just only the persons who wear the same uniform and the relatives and families member. So narrow minded and so cruel to the own people. Are they Buddhism? Do they know the teaching of Lord Buddha. People are suffering since 1962 and now the country becomes poorest countries in the world. I want to make one advertisement for Burmese Goverment to the other countries. " Do you want your country to be poor? " The Burmese Generals (Alibabab) and the followers are ready to help you.
