A woman has been charged for her role in an internet hoax that ended with a 13-year-old girl committing suicide after being shunned by a non-existent chatline contact.
The Missouri woman, Lori Drew, was indicted Thursday for her alleged role in perpetrating a hoax on the online social network MySpace against the 13-year-old neighbour.
Lori Drew allegedly helped create a MySpace account in the name of someone who didn't exist to convince Megan Meier she was chatting with a 16-year-old boy named Josh Evans.
After three weeks of online flirting, 'Josh' sent the girl a message saying that the world would be better off without her.
Prosecutors say within hours the 13-year-old had hanged herself in her bedroom.
Drew has denied creating the MySpace account or sending messages to the girl.
Both the girl and MySpace are named as victims in the case.

It is good that the justice will be served if she is found guilty.I do not know what kind of oerson these woman is but she should face charges for committed crime and it must be a lesson to all of us.

A few months ago when I first read this story, no charges had been filed. This made me sick to my stomach. They were not even releasing the name of the woman and daughter who cooked up this spiteful scheme. The woman was angry that word got out because it was harmful to HER daughter’s reputation!!!!!! What an unbelievably self-centered individual. I know she will not be convicted, but just the fact that she has to go through a public trial is sufficient for now. God will deal with her later.

Perpetrating a Hoax is a crime??
If it is, there is a 'gang' in washington d.c. that needs arresting!
They have actually murdered... .

If the report of what the woman said is correct, and that is what ...
... , she will be 'charged’for, then we have numerous criminal women posting on this site!
Especially the lil cowards!
